America’s Greatest Ranch
Cattle & Horses
Built on Generations of Excellence
Although the UU Bar Ranch is world renowned for its hunting and wildlife, it has operated as a cattle ranch for more than 175 years. The UU Bar Ranch is a cattle ranch first and foremost and its commercial Angus cattle herd is one of the highest quality commercial herds in America. The cattle are deep and thick, the front pasture kind, with northern genetics tracing to some of the nation’s best registered Angus breeders. When fed out calves off the UU Bar Ranch will grade 100% choice or better. Management’s main focus is in continuing to improve the ranch’s livestock.
The high country and mesas contain a mixture of very strong grasses, high in protein. Calves, born in March, will weigh close to 700 pounds when weaned in October. With mild winters and numerous creeks in the Lower Country, winter feeding is minimal and livestock water is usually available without having to chop ice. Under normal rainfall conditions, the UU Bar Ranch will support 5,000 plus pairs, 350-400 bulls, 5,000 plus elk, 400-500 bison, 1,000 plus pronghorn and several hundred head of mule deer in addition to two bands of mares and a large remuda.
Our horses carry generations of performance pedigree—cow sense, athleticism, and the versatility of a true Western mount. We breed ranch horses, rope horses, and all-around athletes.
“I really don't believe you could find a better cattle ranch than the UU Bar - high country for the summer, back to the Vega and foothills for winter and no trucking.
