America’s Greatest Ranch
Headquarters at Rayado
At the heart of the UU Bar Ranch lies its historic headquarters at Rayado, New Mexico—a place where the past and present intertwine. Rayado holds a special place in the story of the American West, as the first permanent settlement in Colfax County and a vital stop along the legendary Santa Fe Trail.
In 1848 at Rayado (just across the highway from the UU Bar headquarters) is where Lucien B. Maxwell—one of the West’s most influential pioneers—built his home and began farming and ranching. His vision and determination laid the foundation for a legacy that continues to thrive today on the UU Bar Ranch.
The UU Bar Ranch headquarters at Rayado is more than the center of operations—it is a living landmark of Western Heritage, where every structure and every acre is infused with the spirit of those who first carved out a life on these rugged lands. It is here that the enduring story of the ranch begins, and where its proud tradition is carried forward into the future.
